Healings at Peter’s House

8:14 Now ¹  when Jesus entered Peter’s house, he saw his mother-in-law lying down, ²  sick with a fever. 8:15 He touched her hand, and the fever left her. Then ³  she got up and began to serve them.

Lukas 4:38-39

4:38 After Jesus left ⁴  the synagogue, he entered Simon’s house. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Jesus ⁵  to help her. ⁶  4:39 So ⁷  he stood over her, commanded ⁸  the fever, and it left her. Immediately ⁹  she got up and began to serve ¹⁰  them.

9:58 Jesus said to him, “Foxes have dens and the birds in the sky ¹¹  have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.” ¹² 

[8:14]  ¹ tn Grk “And.” Here καί (kai) has been translated as “now” to indicate the transition to a new topic.

The idiomatic expression “birds of the sky” refers to wild birds as opposed to domesticated fowl (cf. BDAG 809 s.v. πετεινόν).

[9:58]  ¹² sn Jesus’ reply is simply this: Does the man understand the rejection he will be facing? Jesus has no home in the world (the Son of Man has no place to lay his head).
